Ophelia’s Flowers
19 May 2020
We were deeply saddened to cancel our 2020 seasons of Hamlet and The Comedy of Errors due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, the kindness of our audience and supporters, many of whom donated the cost of their tickets back to the company, has been quite overwhelming. This month, we’d like to shine a spotlight on you for brightening our days with words of love and care during this tricky time. Your words have kept our spirits high and we want to pay this positivity forward by sharing a few messages here. Thank you.
“This is my way to say ‘you must keep going’. Best wishes to you all in these challenging times.”
“Sending our thoughts to the entire arts community during this time, we’ll need art on the other side.”
“Thanks for your many years of entertaining me. My wish is to die of a stroke, Monty Python style, overcome with passion for the latest star to debut with Bell Shakespeare in or about 2060.”
“Thank you for existing. May you long continue.”
“I drove from Bathurst with my family to see your very first show – Hamlet in a tent – and have loved you ever since. Please try and keep going!”
“Best wishes to all at Bell Shakespeare. I have enjoyed your performances for ages, and hope to do so for the rest of my life.”
“Hamlet was the last arts event we attended before lockdown – how absolutely superb it was.”
“My mates and I just wanted to say thanks for putting on such great shows, and we’re looking forward to when we can enjoy them again. Love to everyone at Bell Shakespeare.”
“We look forward to the company being back on the road and shining from the stage as always.”
“I hope you are all doing ok, take care of yourselves and see you on the flipside.”
We love hearing from you! If you’d like to send a message or share memories of your journey with Shakespeare, please email us at together@bellshakespeare.com.au.
