Frequently asked questions

What does my membership fee pay for?

Bell Shakespeare pays the artists and creatives involved in the original productions for the right to make these archival recordings available on the Shakespeare Hub. Your membership fee supports these costs.

Do I need a Teacher Membership to access all Shakespeare Hub resources?

All existing open-access content on the Shakespeare Hub will remain free of charge to access and does not require a Teacher Membership to view. Resources only accessible with a Teacher Membership will be identifiable by a lock icon. Once registered and logged in, Teacher Membership holders will be able to view locked content.

Can I get a membership for my school or faculty?

Teacher Memberships are designed for single teacher use only. The benefits of membership have been designed for individual members. Our current functionality does not allow for organisational memberships. The price of a Teacher Membership has been kept deliberately low so that multiple teachers in a school can register.

If multiple teachers from one school would like to sign up for Teacher Memberships, they will need to individually register.

Can I share Teacher Membership resources with my students?

Yes, it is intended that teachers use and share teacher membership content within their classrooms and with their own students.

How long will my Teacher Membership last?

Your Teacher Membership will last for one year, commencing from the date of sign up.

How does payment work?

Your Teacher Membership gives access for one year and will auto renew each year on the date of sign up, unless cancelled earlier. Teachers will be sent notification reminders in advance of autorenewals. You can cancel the auto renew feature at any time by logging into your account or contacting Bell Shakespeare on 1300 305 730 or boxoffice@bellshakespeare.com.au

Will the price change in the future?

In our inaugural year, we are offering the Teacher Membership fee of $35 in celebration of Bell Shakespeare's 35th anniversary. Following our first year, memberships will be $50.

Why are the archival recordings only available to watch in Terms 2 and 3?

The agreement that we have reached with the artists and creatives involved in the original productions means that we are licensed to make the archival recordings available for six months per year in a two-year period. We have prioritised Terms 2 and 3 as the six-month period they will be accessible as we know that this is the most popular time for schools in Australia to study Shakespeare.

Will more content be added?

Yes, it is intended that each year more content and archival recordings will be added to the Teacher Membership.

Can I download and save the content to view and access offline?

The content is not able to be downloaded, accessed offline or copied in anyway, as per terms and conditions.

I'm not a teacher but I am interested in signing up. Can I?

The Teacher Membership is only available to current teachers in Australian schools. On registration you will be asked for your school name and your state or territory which will be verified by the Bell Shakespeare team.
